In fact very similar as usual. Only instead of rows are a levels. So from left to right, level by level, from top to bottom. All letters of any word are grouped in pairs and stacked vertically. If there are multiple words, they are not separated by a space (but by colour, texture, or similar criteria).
There are exceptions, where only one letter (the first) or sometimes three letters can be used in a single level. (The same rule applies: L>R, top>bottom.)
